نؤكد هنا وجود سمكة الماعز البحر الأحمر Parupeneus forsskali (Fourmanoir & Guézé, 1976)، في المياه الساحلية الليبية لبنغازي. يُقدَّم وصف موجز للأفراد التي جُمعت، ويناقش التوسع الجغرافي لهذا النوع وبنيته التطورية على طول سواحل جنوب البحر الأبيض المتوسط، بالإضافة إلى وصف بنيته التطورية لتفسير مسار وصوله إلى جنوب البحر الأبيض المتوسط.
