This study demonstrates the potential of using Neem Leaf Powder (NLP) to remove Cu (II) ions from aqueous solutions. Intermittent adsorption experiments were conducted, varying the experimental parameters, such as pH (between 2 and 6) and the dosage of the adsorbent. Neem leaves were dried and ground into powder with a particle size ranging from 90 to 100 µm. Known doses of neem leaf powder (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 g/L) were mixed with a constant concentration of 100 mg/L of Cu (II) ions for 5 hours. In this study, the greatest amount of Cu (II) ions was removed at the optimal neem leaf powder dose of 1.5 g/L, pH 3, and room temperature. Under these laboratory conditions, 73.09% of Cu (II) ions were removed from the solution. This study primarily aims to investigate the feasibility of copper adsorption from water using environmentally friendly bio-adsorbents. The results demonstrate the potential of using neem leaf powder as a bio-adsorbent for removing Cu (II) ions. This technique is efficient, inexpensive, and environmentally friendly, and can be further developed to remove other heavy metals from wastewater.
